    Twisted Loyalties by Cora Rilleyย

๐’ž๐‘œ๐“ƒ๐“‰๐‘’๐“ƒ๐“‰:mafia romance, bad boys, class difference, virgin heroine, alpha male, possessive hero, slow burn  Leona was a train wreck about to happen in anyoneโ€™s life. I felt sorry for Fabiano. Not because she had such awful parents but because of her unwavering love for her awful parents, and all her bad decisions when it comes to them. What was she??? Six???? Good luck, Fabiano!  Fabiano was raised to follow in his fatherโ€™s footsteps as Consigliere of the Chicago Outfit โ€“ until the man abandons him. Left to fend for himself, Fabiano is forced to fight for a place in the mafia world. As a ruthless street fighter, he quickly earns…

This Used to Be Us by Renรฉe Carlinoย

๐’ž๐‘œ๐“ƒ๐“‰๐‘’๐“ƒ๐“‰:second chances, marriage in crisis, mature characters, books to cry over, non traditional hea, dual timeline, chcek content warning  I wouldnโ€™t say this book was a romance per say. I saw more of the negative aspects of the characters throughout the book and not enough of why they truly loved each other. There is very little happy moments between them, but a lot of bitterness. Sadly, I needed more than that. I wanted to feel they still love each other somehow.  That despite everything, there was still a spark there somewhere. The ending only added more stress to the story and I just couldnโ€™t get it. All of this for an…

Bonded by Thorns by Elizabeth Helen

๐’ž๐‘œ๐“ƒ๐“‰๐‘’๐“ƒ๐“‰:reverse harem, fated mates, fae, monsters, werewolves, retelling  When I say nothing happened, I truly mean it!! From beginning to end nothing happens!!  Also, the story line was ridiculous . The dialogue was awful and cringey. I eye roll so much I’m surprised my eyeballs haven’t rolled out of my face. Four beastly princes. One awkward bookworm. An enchanted world of fae, magic, and danger. Iโ€™ve always loved fairytales. I never imagined I’d actually be in one. When my father wanders into the enchanted realm of the fae, I know I have to go after him. And when he gets imprisoned, I’ll do anything to save him… Even trade my…

Falling Like Stars by Emma Scott

๐’ž๐‘œ๐“ƒ๐“‰๐‘’๐“ƒ๐“‰:workplace, forced proximity, tortures heroine, tortured hero, grief/death  This book had me at the prologue…wow, what a way to start a story. Scott has written an amazing, heartfelt and emotional book. It was so beautifully written! The characters were richly crafted and strong. It was so easy to get lost in the pages of this book.  The only reason this book is not getting all the stars from me is because I think the storyline with Eva was too big a focus on the book overshadowing the beauty of Rowan and Zacharyโ€™s romance. I just needed more of Rowan and Zachary and less of Eva and Zachary. But nevertheless, an…

The Rocker’s Muse by Penelope Wardย

๐’ž๐‘œ๐“ƒ๐“‰๐‘’๐“ƒ๐“‰:rockstar, age gap (22 & 38), workplace, insta-love  This book felt more like I was in a therapy session than reading a romance novel. Boring!  โ€œWe have to make life about more than the uncontrollable shit that gets thrown at us. Happiness isnโ€™t something that just happens. Itโ€™s a choice, the way we react to life. Each personโ€™s happiness is their own responsibility.โ€ No one but me knew why I was actually in the California desert that day. Nestled deep within the desolate, rocky area was a recording studio. When a door suddenly opened, a man mistook me for someone he was supposed to be interviewing for a job. The…

    Wild Eyes by Elsie Silverย

๐’ž๐‘œ๐“ƒ๐“‰๐‘’๐“ƒ๐“‰:single dad, famous heroine, country singer, western romance, cowboy hero, small town, found family  This book just wasnโ€™t for me. I just couldnโ€™t get invested into the story. Maybe was the fact that I found the heroine to be a weak character. Or maybe was the fact that I didnโ€™t enjoy any of their banter. I donโ€™t know, maybe I am just out growing this author, but the truth is I’m not connecting with Elsieโ€™s writing like I used to, and it’s actually quite upsetting.  A rugged mountain town seemed like the perfect escape from a life in shambles. But on day one I ran full tilt into the worldโ€™s…

The Fiancรฉ Dilemma by Elena Armas

๐’ž๐‘œ๐“ƒ๐“‰๐‘’๐“ƒ๐“‰:fake engagement, small town, sisterโ€™s best friend, he falls first, chaotic heroine   I really wanted to love this book but the female main character was getting on my last nerve! She was insufferable. Her quirks was just too much. To make matters worse, the plot was ridiculously slow for me. The main characters had absolutely no sparkles. Sadly, this was a big miss for me. But I think fans of Elena Armas may like this, so don’t let my review sway you from giving it a go, read it for yourself and see what you think. Josie Moore has given the opposite sexโ€”and loveโ€”plenty of chances. Four exactly, if you…

Right Guy, Wrong Word by Jewel E. Annย

๐’ž๐‘œ๐“ƒ๐“‰๐‘’๐“ƒ๐“‰:second chances, friends to lovers, miscommunication  This book is a good example of why authors should take more time with their writing. Jewel E. Ann was an one-click author for me but I feel like this author is only writing to put out books now. There is juts no heart in her stories anymore. They lack depth and emotional build-up.  โ€œListen, Iโ€™m not okay with how you tried to decimate our book club tonight. After just eight chapters, your negative and speculative views of the book were awkward and insulting.โ€ He squints, parting his lips a fraction. โ€œOโ€”kay. I offended you?โ€ I shake my head, scrunching up my face. โ€œNo.…

Ruthless Fae by Caroline Peckham & Susanne Valenti

๐’ž๐‘œ๐“ƒ๐“‰๐‘’๐“ƒ๐“‰:cruel hero, bullying, magic, fae, vampires, werewolves, fates mates, enemies to lovers, slow burn. For all the hype this series has gotten I am trying to keep pushing butโ€ฆ. when does it get better? Half way through the second book and the bullies literally corner one of the girls and PEE on her. Yes, I said pee. How many more books do I have to read to not see this kind of ridiculousness. I wonโ€™t be finishing the series. They tried to break us. They almost did. But we’re not going anywhere. The Celestial Heirs think the stars are on their side. But they don’t know what’s coming. Fighting them one…

The Awakening by Caroline Peckham & Susanne Valenti

๐’ž๐‘œ๐“ƒ๐“‰๐‘’๐“ƒ๐“‰:kids orphaned from murdered parents they never knew of; extreme bullying/absusive behavior; sexual content; vampires; magic; zodiac signs. Iโ€™ve tried to read this book once and quit in the first chapter or twoโ€ฆ well I powered through this time and was pleasantly surprised.  Not gonna lie, this book is even worse than I thought, at least in the bullying aspect but the writing is PHENOMENAL. The story and characters wouldnโ€™t let me go regardless of how I was feeling. The Heirs…gosh, I could not stand them. Still canโ€™t. I’m not sure they can manage to redeem themselves, but the series is long so weโ€™ll seeโ€ฆ  The world building was one…
