The Summer I First Saw You by Elizabeth O’Roark

3.25 stars 𝒞𝑜𝓃𝓉𝑒𝓃𝓉:• age gap (11 years) • forbidden love • taboo • grumpy vs sunshine • slow burn • summer romance • angsty • I felt the chemistry and enjoyed the banter, but the story dragged on at some point. Also, the way Daisy broke into Harrison’s house and blackmailed him into letting her stay in his house rubbed me the wrong way.  Overall, it was entertaining but it would be better if the book was 100 pages shorter. ˚₊· ͟͟͞͞➳❥ This is book 5 in the The Summer Series. Each one can be read as a complete standalone. Once upon a time, my buddy’s niece was a toddler…

A Cross-Country Christmas by Courtney Walsh

𝒞𝑜𝓃𝓉𝑒𝓃𝓉:Christmas • road trip • enemies to lovers • grumpy vs sunshine • one bed • closed doors  The heroine was rude, stubborn, and completely unreasonable for most of the book. There is really no excuse for how she treated Will. He was doing her a favor and she either ignored him or was overtly mean. It was very off-putting. Also, nothing too special or interesting happened in the story. Lauren Richmond isn’t a fan of Christmas. Which is why she rarely makes the trip home to the Midwest for the holidays. After all, she has plenty to keep her busy—namely, her duties as a set decorator on a TV sitcom. But…

    Forever Wild by Rebecca Jenshak

𝒞𝑜𝓃𝓉𝑒𝓃𝓉:age gap • he falls first • teammate’s little sister • grumpy vs sunshine • sports romance • hockey • found family  The banter and jealousy parts was A+ with no holds barred specially in the beginning. And the grumpy sunshine created great chemistry between the main characters, but there were a few times where I thought something was lacking, like it lost the intensity for a bit. However, I still enjoyed this very much and I totally recommend it.  ˚₊· ͟͟͞͞➳❥ This is book 5 in the Wildcat Hockey Series. Each one can be read as a complete standalone. The annoyingly handsome hockey captain glaring at me needs my…

    Keep Me by Sara Cate

𝒞𝑜𝓃𝓉𝑒𝓃𝓉:marriage of convenience • enemies to lovers • forced proximity • age gap • rich hero   Just another book about abusive relationship…but hey! If you enjoy toxic twisted love this book is definitely for you.   “Anyone who says money can’t buy happiness is probably poor and bitter.” ˚₊· ͟͟͞͞➳❥ This is book 1 in the Sinful Manor Series. Each one can be read as a complete standalone. All Killian Barclay wants is to be left the hell alone. He’s had enough heartache to last a lifetime, and he has no more need for love—earning him the reputation of a broody Scot and eventually turning his famous ancestral home into a…

If You Need Me by Helena Hunting

3.25 stars 𝒞𝑜𝓃𝓉𝑒𝓃𝓉:opposites attract • golden retriever X black cat mmc • enemies to lovers • sports romance • hockey • fake relationship• childhood crush • he falls first • workplace • plus size heroine  Dallas was everything you’d want from a MMC. I was a little annoyed by hemi being so hung up on high school things though. I just couldn’t believe she let it hold her back for a full decade. However, their banter/chemistry was really great what made this a good read for me in the end. The prom part in the end was really cheesy but also absolutely adorable!  Overall, an easy and fun read. I…

Blood of Hercules by Jasmine Mas

𝒞𝑜𝓃𝓉𝑒𝓃𝓉:reverse harem • dark romance • cruel hero • virgin heroine • enemies to lovers • age gap • Greek mythology  TW: abuse • graphic violence • slut shaming• dubious consent • misogyny • animal abuse• self harm • non-consent  ⋆✴︎˚。⋆ Your mental health matters. If any of these topics are sensitive to you, please proceed with caution or skip this one ⋆✴︎˚。⋆ I think authors are going too far when writing dark romances. Abusive relationships— or any nonconsensual sexual act— is NOT erotic, let alone romantic!  I think when you have a sort of influence over someone, as writers have over their readers, you gotta use it positively. Normalize rape,…

Know Your Newlywed by Hillary Nussbaum & Heather Taylor

𝒞𝑜𝓃𝓉𝑒𝓃𝓉:online dating • TV show • fake relationship • friends to lovers  This was one amazing audio production. And the story was truly adorable and so much fun to listen to.   All the narrators were terrific performers and I truly believed they embodied the characters. Another unique element that I thought enhanced this audiobook production was the use of background noises throughout – the sounds of phones ringing, traffic, people talking on the background and so more made for an almost cinematic experience. I think fans of Cara Bastone will loved this. But if you have never experienced Audible Original titles before this is a great start. Thank you Libro.fm for…

    The Wingman by Stephanie Archer

𝒞𝑜𝓃𝓉𝑒𝓃𝓉:friends to lovers • sports romance • hockey • miscommunication • ex boyfriend’s best friend • women in STEM • forced proximity • reformed rake I love a good friends to lovers love story but this one fell flat for me. The miscommunication around their feelings for each other went on for too long. There is also a lot of filler inner monologue. The writing style was more telling their feelings than showing. This book felt longer than necessary to me. Am I going to read Alexei and Georgia’s book? Absolutely, maybe there will be some actual tension there. Hoping for better next time. ˚₊· ͟͟͞͞➳❥ This is book 3 in…

Under Loch and Key by Lana Ferguson

𝒞𝑜𝓃𝓉𝑒𝓃𝓉:enemies to lovers • monsters • grumpy X sunshine • brooding hero • magic • Scottish accent  Okay, this book has an interesting premise, it definitely has potential but I think it was too long for the plot. I was bored. The smut was also cringey and not sexy. The characters were just bland. I want to love this author but I’m starting to think that Lana Ferguson is not an author for me. Thank you to Libro.fm for for providing me early access to Under Loch and Key in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own. Keyanna “Key” MacKay is used to secrets. Raised by a…

From Air by Jewel E. Ann

*Audiobook free on Kindle Unlimited* 𝒞𝑜𝓃𝓉𝑒𝓃𝓉:age gap • grumpy X sunshine • roommates • found family • men in uniform  Not for me. I need some relationship build-up before all the sexual experiences between the main characters. Otherwise, it feels forced and contrived. Women do not get horny only by seeing a naked guy. Our body doesn’t work that way. I read only 12% of the book and the FMC is already acting like a cat in heat, full of hormones. DNF. *eye rolling* When Jamie Andrews moves in with a house full of firefighters, things start heating up fast. Battling the wilderness of rural Montana, these guys are always…
