Never Lie by Freida McFadden
Review:
It was fast paced and easy to follow. A page turner for sure. I will give it 3 stars for these reasons alone.
However, the twists don’t really feel very twisty because the story and the ending was predictable. I didn’t guess the exact outcome but I knew who the liars were. There weren’t any jaw dropping or any shocking moments for me in this story.

Tricia was always on edge in the house, and the idea of Adrienne Hale made her very uncomfortable. She seemed like a scared little bird the entire time, not at all dark or dangerous like everything around her. Then all of a sudden, within the last few chapters. It’s “revealed” that Tricia is actually Patricia??? Give me a break! I love a good plot twist, but in my opinion, making an entire new person out of a thoroughly established character is not a plot twist. It seems sloppy to me.
Also, may we refer to how dumb the whole blackmail plot was trash? She slashed a tire.. boo-hoo. Big deal!! 🙄
“How are you? The three most useless words in the universe of communication. Nobody who asks that question wants to know the answer. And nobody who answers ever tells the truth. “I’m fine, Paige.“
“My mother always says the only way two people can keep a secret,” she says, “is if one of them is dead.“
“I believe that any human being is capable of terrible things if you push them hard enough.“
Newlyweds Tricia and Ethan are searching for the house of their dreams.
But when they visit the remote manor that once belonged to Dr. Adrienne Hale, a renowned psychiatrist who vanished without a trace four years earlier, a violent winter storm traps them at the estate… with no chance of escape until the blizzard comes to an end.
In search of a book to keep her entertained until the snow abates, Tricia happens upon a secret room. One that contains audio transcripts from every single patient Dr. Hale has ever interviewed. As Tricia listens to the cassette tapes, she learns about the terrifying chain of events leading up to Dr. Hale’s mysterious disappearance.
Tricia plays the tapes one by one, late into the night. With each one, another shocking piece of the puzzle falls into place, and Dr. Adrienne Hale’s web of lies slowly unravels.
And then Tricia reaches the final cassette.
The one that reveals the entire horrifying truth.
