The Devil Wears Black by L.J. Shen

Rating: 1 out of 5.

Review

The only books worth reading by LJ SHEN’s are: BANE, DIRTY HEADLINES, KISS THIEF, SPARROW, and BROKEN KNIGHT. Otherwise her books are all the same: commitment-phobe men who constantly make disparaging over-the-top mean comments doing really terrible things to the girls who can’t help but love them. Same stories different character names.

This author needs to go on a creative journey! Seriously šŸ˜’

Blurb

On paper, he was too good to be true. In reality, he was so bad it hurt to breathe next to him.

ā€œDeath is no longer an obscure idea. It is real and it is waiting, so you grab life by the balls. When you go through the horror of seeing someone you love die and still manage to wake up the next day to tie your shoelaces, to shove a tasteless breakfast down your throat, to breathe, you realize survival trumps tragedy. Always. It’s a primal instinct.ā€

ā€œHe’d followed me everywhere, like a dark cloud with a bellyful of rain.ā€

Maddie Goldbloom stitched up a plan to ensure everything in her life was perfect—from a career in fashion to a chic NYC apartment to a pediatrician boyfriend.

When her ex, Chase Black, storms back into her life with an outrageous request, her immediate reaction is to refuse him. But he only wants to fulfill his father’s last wish. So even though he’s the man who broke her heart, playing his fiancĆ©e shouldn’t be hard, especially if it means she gets to watch the arrogant devil squirm a bit.

What ensues is a chain of events that detonates Maddie’s life—and when Chase’s walls come down, they both are forced to face reality.

They say keep your enemies close. But what if your enemy is also the man you love?
