The Homemaker by Jewel E. Ann

Rating: 2 out of 5.

Review

I used to love Jewel E Ann’s books. If she wrote it, I read it. That’s it! But now, sadly, that changed for me. She still have great premises but the execution are so lacking! Of course, I still find ones I enjoy but if I’m being brutally honest it’s not often.

I noticed a changing in her writing and not for the best, at least not for me. I feel like her stories are revolving too much around sex lately and also some too insta-love. There is barely any relationship development therefore it is hard to feel emotionally connected with the characters or the story. Her female characters feel like a dog in heat and sadly, I cannot related to these characters.

That being said, I couldn’t get invested in this book the more I tried. At some point I noticed I was only reading words but not feeling anything. That’s when I decided it was time to thrown in the towel and quit.

However, this is a personal opinion. Clearly, I’m the minority here. If you are a fan of the author, don’t hesitate to read it and see how you feel yourself.

˚₊· ͟͟͞͞➳❥ This is book in the The Chain of Lakes Series. Each book in this series features a different couple and can be read as a complete standalone. But for maximum enjoyment, follow the recommended reading order.

❝ It feels both wrong and familiar. We didn’t fade. The attraction didn’t die. We simply ended. It’s like the emotion and passion have been on pause.❞

❝ I love two women, but I only want to be with one.❞

❝ It sucks being someone’s first choice, but not their only one. ❞

A romance inspired by TS “Fortnight”

I was hers, but she was never mine.

Alice Yates is the hired “homemaker” for the Morrisons, an affluent couple in Minneapolis. For Alice, it’s a dream job to dress up like a 1950s housewife and read romance novels to Mr. Morrison before his afternoon nap.

But when the Morrisons’ only daughter returns home for the summer with her fiancé, Alice comes face- to-face with her shattered past—the only threat to her perfect life.

Eight years earlier, vacation rental owner Murphy Paddon had an impeccable vinyl record collection and did the most irresistible thing before kissing Alice, earning him a five-star rating. Their fortnight love affair was life-altering and ended tragically.

Murphy doesn’t know if Alice remembers him or whether he should tell his fiancée that the hired-help living in the guesthouse is the woman who irreparably broke his heart. He needs closure, but will the lingering glances and silent yearning lead to the end or just the beginning?
