Chasing Love by Piper Rayne

Rating: 3 out of 5.

Review

I have mixed feelings on this book as part of me really enjoy certain elements of the book but Delaney’s reasoning for keeping the baby from Bennett felt more rooted in pride than protection. She was actually angry with Bennett’s choice and that made her make a bad decision. She was incredibly selfish with that. She took something from Bennett and Leia that they will never be able to get it back. Another thing that bother me was the fact that she was only concerned about her own daughter, how she would take the news. She never once thought about Bennet’s daughter with his ex-wife. How she would feel about everything. This is something that certainly affects the whole family. Including his other daughter.

Also, Sean and Delaney’s story felt underdeveloped. I couldn’t understand why he was the villain in this scenario. From what we knew, he only took care of Delaney while she was expecting another man’s baby. He supported her. He was caring and kind to her. He raised the child as his own. He was there for both of them emotionally and physically. So you gotta tell me, Piper Rayne, what was so wrong about this man. I am confused.

I also felt like things solved pretty quickly between Bennet and Delaney for all that she did.

However, I did find the girls relationship to be sweet and refreshing. I loved how different their personalities were, yet they were still able to connect and bond. I loved Bennet’s nosy family. I even enjoyed Bennet and Delaney’s chemistry. I wanted to know the reason these two parted ways. All in all, a good book.

It was over between Bennett Owens and me—until I had no place to go but back to Willowbrook.

Seven years ago, he walked away, and I built a new life for myself, swearing never to look back. But when my husband is arrested, that life collapses, leaving my daughter and me with nothing but a three-month plan to return to the small ranch town before disappearing again.

Bennett’s a single dad now. Our girls become inseparable on sight, making it impossible to keep him at arm’s length. Especially when I end up working alongside him, where every glance chips away at the walls I’ve built.

The years apart haven’t dulled the pull between us. Bennett remains protective and patient, determined to prove that we deserve a second chance. But he has no idea about the secret I’ve kept since the day he left.

Because once he learns the truth, he may never forgive me. And like it or not, we’ll be bound together forever—by the daughter he never knew was his.
